Having released albums of both straight-ahead jazz and urban/electric hip hop, keyboardist Robert Glasper mixes the two worlds on this latest release, creating something that has hints of a soft Barry White, but also late night acoustic reflections.

The smooth and mellow grooves and voices are like a balm on “Breathing Underwater” with guest work by Meshell Ndegeocello”, and there’s mixes of nature and romance on the sublime title work. Resonant reflections of pian and synths secuce on”That One Morning” and there are some folklish ideas with guitar and flute tones on “Round ‘bout Sunlight” and the tender “Inner Voice”.Electronic wall paper creates a relaxing ambience on the meditative “I Am” and synthscapes are impressively impressionistic during “Deep Down”.
