Selexia / Snowbeasts - Split Tape - New Cassette 2025 No Sides Black Tape - Chicago Experimental Electronic / Darkwave / Industrial
Starting with the B-side band, letâs check out this awesome split-- I first heard the Providence, RI darkwave techno duo SNOWBEASTS via their excellent CD âDevourâ last year. Released by Oklahoma City, OK label Re:Mission Entertainment, âDevourâ consists of a solid deluge of dance floor-pounding bangers; it is truly the best album of last year that a lot of people seemed to miss out on. While they have already followed that release up with their new album âDire Days,â also on Re:Mission, and a new collaboration with the Phoenix, AZ artist SOLYPSIS, they were pretty instantly locked in with No Sides to do âsomething coolâ in the near future. Fast forward about six months to this past June when the goth noise band DEATH PYRE (of which, to let the cat out of the bag, I am a member) went on our first weekend tour in support of the No Sides release âBetween Shadow and Substance.â The headlining act for our Columbia, MO show was the very great electro industrial duo SELEXIA, at first a solo project started in 2014 by Trax Reign and then restarted in 2024 as a duo with her husband Johnny Brap. After the show they were immediately pounced on. My offer of a simple split cassingle of one song each was double-deckered by Robert Galbraith of SNOWBEASTS, who had the brilliant idea of them also remixing each otherâs songs. Fast forward five more months and we now have this split dual-remix maxi cassingle. Say that three times really fast!
